City of Gonzales moves forward with afforable housing community plan
GONZALES, Calif. (KION-TV) - The City of Gonzales is moving forward with a plan that would create nearly 3,500 housing units in the city.
Council members made a unanimous decision to move forward on the Vista Lucia Community Project, which would see about 3,498 residential units ranging from single-family to multi-family units.
Alongside the project would be two commercial/residential mixed-use centers and recreational areas, such as seven new parks and more than seven miles of trails for walking and biking.
A donation is also in the works for the site of an elementary and middle school, as well as another educational facility.
Following the approval, the project must get approval from Monterey County's Local Agency Formation Committee.
