Pacific Grove approves memorial bench honoring Asilomar plane crash victims

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Pacific Grove City Council voted to approve a memorial bench to honor the memories of the victims off the coast of Asilomar State Beach.

During a presentation at the City Council meeting, those close to the victims spoke about the memorial bench. It will honor Steve Eugene Clatterbuck, 60, James Vincent, 36, and Jamie Lee Tabscott, 44, whose lives were lost in a plane crash on July 26.

Vincent was the owner of the Aquarius Dive Shop, whilst Tabscott owned another local shop alongside retired dive instructor Clatterbuck.

Members of the Aquarius dive team were at the council meeting, having aided in finding the victims' bodies.

The memorial bench will be located near the site of the plane crash, overlooking the water.
