Repair work begins on the Porter Vallejo Mansion in Pajaro

PAJARO, Calif. (KION-TV) - Work is beginning on the Porter Vallejo Mansion, which houses the Pajaro Library.

Scaffolding has gone up to begin the repairs after the building was damaged during the 2023 Pajaro Flood. The repairs include waterproofing the home, restoring insulation, and fixing windows.

The restoration also includes replacing the HVAC system, adding stairs outside of the mansion, ADA-compliant lifts, and an outdoor area.

The goal is to reopen the mansion as the Pajaro Library and as a community hub for events.

A bookmobile has been operating in place of the Pajaro Library since 2023.
