Scotts Valley consider sending letter to Gov. Newsom for EPA microplastics monitoring

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Scotts Valley City Council is considering sending a letter to Governor Gavin Newsom requesting the submission of a petition to the EPA to monitor and regulate microplastics.

The letter details the threat of microplastics in drinking water to public health, calling for them to be added to the unregulated contaminant monitoring rule.

This is so they are appropriately monitored and regulated by officials.

It asks Governor Newsom to join a governors' petition that would require the monitoring of microplastics if signed by 7 or more governors.
