2 found fatally shot in San Jose neighborhood overnight

Two people have died following a shooting in San Jose near downtown late Thursday night, police said.

Shortly after 10:10 p.m., officers were called to the 700 block of East Santa Clara Street in the Naglee Park neighborhood, following a report of a person shot.

Police wo responded to the area said they found two adult males on the floor inside a commercial building. Both victims were found with at least one gunshot wound each.

Officers summoned medical personnel to the scene, who pronounced both men deceased. 

Additional details about the shooting were not immediately available. Police did not provide information about any potential suspects.

In an update Friday afternoon, police said the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting were under investigation. The incident is the city’s 5th and 6th homicides of 2026.
