Watsonville man arrested after finding 500 fentanyl pills in his car

CASTROVILLE, Calif. (KION) -- A Watsonville man was arrested after finding about 500 fentanyl pills in Castroville early Tuesday morning.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, 45-year-old Rodrigo Ray Marquez of Watsonville was arrested after a traffic stop in Castroville on Merrit Street around 1:30 a.m.

Upon learning of multiple warrants for Marquez's arrest, MCSO deputies searched his vehicle with their K9 Rocket, finding signs of substances inside.

Inside, they found about 500 fentanyl pills in the vehicle.

Deputies also found 46 grams of cocaine, 44 grams of crack cocaine, and 36 grams of heroin. He also had indica on him, intending to sell.

Marquez was arrested on several charges, including possession of narcotics for sale and outstanding warrants.
