Santa Cruz’s first luxury hotel La Bahia is ready for its debut
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) - The brand new La Bahia Hotel and Spa is gearing up to welcome guests in just a few weeks.
The hotel is right across the street from Main Beach. There is high-end dining, a full-service spa, and ocean views.
The new 155-room resort will span 225,000 square feet and serve up sweeping, unobstructed views of the beach, Monterey Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. Nearby businesses hope more hotels like this will lead to more foot traffic in their shops.
The spot where La Bahia sits has been part of the Santa Cruz beachfront story for almost 100 years. It began life as apartments back in 1926.
The managing partner of Ensemble Investments, Conrad Garner, says this new hotel has a lot to offer.
"Our guestrooms, incredible suites and a pool deck are custom-designed down to the last detail in fabric," said Garner. "[There's] discoveries of luxury in every corner. Our restaurants and open spaces provide the stage for those inspiring company meetings, timeless family gatherings, and outings with friends. And let's not forget the spa."
Originally built in 1926 as part of the old Casa del Rey apartments, the signature bell tower is still standing.
It’s been carefully preserved and now anchors a fresh, updated take on Spanish Colonial Revival design.
Reservations officially open September 8th, and the average price of a room is around $400.
