Kiddie Kapers Parade waltzes down Old Town Salinas this Sunday

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Kiddie Kapers Parade is back this weekend in Salinas, kicking off the California Rodeo Salinas Big Week.
This year's theme is Once Upon a Rodeo, with more than 1,200 children on floats, bikes, and wagons along the parade route to the Salinas City Center on Sunday, July 13, starting at 3 p.m. at the Salinas Recreation Center.
The annual tradition will be led by this year's Grand Marshall, Jaziel Mendoza, a pediatric cancer survivor who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2022.
Prizes will be awarded to different groups in eight divisions, with the first-place winners in each division winning a grand prize.
Those eight divisions are:
- Playground Floats
- Cowboys and Cowgirls
- Strollers and Wagon
- Community Groups
- Costumed Kids & Pets
- Dance & Drill Teams
- Group Floats
- Rolling Riders (skaters, scooters, bicyclists, roller skaters, and roller bladers)
