Two women injured in semi-truck crash in San Ardo

SAN ARDO, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Two people are injured after a semi-truck crash on Highway 101 near San Ardo.

According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened right before 6 a.m. when the 64-year-old driver of a Freightliner was traveling northbound on Highway 101.

For reasons under investigation, the truck drove through the median ad began traveling the wrong way,

A Buick driven by 47-year-old woman with two passengers hit the truck head on.

The two passengers, a 45-year-old and 75-year-old woman respectively, suffer majored injuries.

Both were transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas for treatment.

The southbound lanes of Highway 101 near San Ardo were closed breifly before being reopened.

Semi-truck crash closes southbound 101 near San Ardo

A crash on Highway 101 has caused a closure near San Ardo due to a semi-truck.

According to CHP, preliminary reports say the big rig crossed the wrong lane, causing an accident. Multiple vehicles are involved, but the exact number is not known.

Those driving southbound will be diverted via the Lockwood exit on 101 before returning to San Ardo.

Northbound traffic is unaffected by the closure.
