Person in critcal condition after being hit by car in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) -- One person remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Monday night.

The incident happened at 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 1 and River Street.

According to initial investigations, the driver hit the person crossing while at a red light.

First responders started life-saving measures for the victim before they were transported to Dominican Hospital.

After a brief stay there, they were transported to a trauma center.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
